ARCHAICUS: THE EARLY YEARS

[CD, 2020]

Archaicus was a short-lived but remarkably high quality cult black metal project, active between 2002 and 2006, that was a more traditional predecessor to the later avantgarde black outfit Lychgate. In fact, Lychgate's self-titled first album was inspired by the sounds of the Archaicus demo, which make up the first three tracks of this re-release.

Cult Never Dies now release these early recordings for a wider audience, with a half hour of rarely heard and unreleased material that demonstrate a unique blend of atmospheric black metal and early thrash metal overtones. Comparisons to the Nordic black metal scene are also evident and this will appeal not just to fans of early Lychgate but also Satyricon's first albums and even Mayhem's De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.

The material has been remastered, and in some cases remixed, for this release and the sleeve has extensive liner notes.
